2010 Jaguar XJ makes its North American debut

Behold the all new 2010 Jaguar XJ as it makes its North American debut at Pebble Beach. Although we here at Carlyle Motor Club were snubbed on the invitation by the organizers of this event, we're sure it was just a slight oversight on one of the "higher-ups" part.

But we digress, as we've told you from our first encounter with the car a month ago, the new 2010 Jaguar XJ will be available in regular or extended wheelbase form, with one of three variations of the company's direct-injected 5.0 liter V8 underhood. The base models get a 385-horsepower normally-aspirated version; the XJ Supercharged gets boosted to 470 hp; and the top-of-the-line Supersport gets the XFR's 510-hp mill. Prices will range from a base of $72,500 to $115,000, making this one dear kitty. No matter the price, it's one striking sedan, and we can't wait to get some seat time soon.

First Photos Of The 2010 Jaguar XJ

If you're a fan of the new Jaguar XF's styling, we've got good news for you. The all-new 2010 Jaguar XJ flagship sedan will take plenty of cues from its little brother when it is officially unveiled tomorrow. Unfortunately for Jaguar, these three images have inadvertently been released ahead of schedule, and reveal that much of the traditional XJ form has made way for a new era of Ian Callum-led design.

Make no mistake, as the ultimate expression of Jaguar luxury and refinement, the XJ is still a large automobile. Yet the overall roof profile and front end of the new XJ bear many characteristics of the subtly aggressive and smaller XF. At the rear, the raked roofline blends into the somewhat abrupt and bulbous trunk, while the rear windscreen seems to be artificially widened with a blacked-out treatment to the C-pillars.

Tomorrow, Jay Leno will help unveil the new car in London and we'll have all the juicy details for you then, at 3:30 EST. In the meantime, let us know if you think the new Jaguar XJ has the styling needed to go head-to-head with Germany at the top end of the luxury car market.
